The Seed
An Ode to Bhante
Our commitment to authenticity in practice can be accredited to Bhante. Bhante is a Buddhist Monk from Myanmar who arrived in Australia 35 years ago to support his people fleeing as refugees from the struggles they faced in Myanmar. Bhante’s people, the Mon people, are a minority group who have undergone terrible persecution in their home country. Dr Simon Feeney, Ode’s Founder, has studied under Bhante for the past 25 years and has travelled Southeast Asia helping Bhante to unearth, photograph, document and preserve ancient Buddhist manuscripts that contain essential herbal medicine knowledge alongside numerous historical and linguistical significance. Bhante is one of the few people alive today with the ability to transcribe these ancient texts.
We want to help honour and preserve this wisdom around the globe - one such community is the Mon people of Burma.
Ode's Founder
Dr. Simon J Feeney
Dr. Simon J. Feeney (Traditional Chinese Medicine), is a dedicated herbal medicine physician with a lifelong devotion to traditional medicine. His passion for herbal medicine has seen him through extensive travels which have allowed him to share in vast amounts of traditional wisdom. With deep seeded respect for the forebears of traditional natural medicine he carries these teachings forth. He walks with authenticity and humility at the forefront of the Chinese Medicine and Herbal Medicine industries in Australia and overseas.
Ode is a culmination of Simon's extensive travels, studies, research and practice which have been driven by his deep immersion into diverse traditional wellness practices.
